Which trophy is given for achievements in television industry?

My husband was nominated for an Emmy for the coverage of the Exxon Valdez oil spill. He worked for the Seattle PBS station and was part of the small crew sent to cover the inquiry. They lost to the Seafair Hydro Races. pffft

so why isn't it just called an immy?
