Good explanation. Brief, but good. It should be noted that Samhain is a solemn occasion for Wiccans and Pagans. The dead are remembered and honored, often with a silent or "dumb" supper.

In the USA there's Trick or Treat but come to Scotland where, for generations, the tradition has been "guising", putting on costumes and going around the neighbourhood, telling a joke, singing a song, doing a turn of some sort, dooking for apples and being rewarded with bags full of fruit, nuts and sweets.

in Slovakia we do celebrate it differently, we visit cemeteries and light candles for our loved ones that are gone.we remember them on that day. it seems a bit sad but you should see that spectacle from a distance, it's like a sea of light in the evening.🕯️

Halloween originated in Ireland and in gailge is called oiche samhain, pronounced "iha sowan". It is a festival originating from the Celts. In more modern times, kids traditionally called door to door asking for a penny for the puca. The puca is an evil spirit in Irish folklore and the penny was sought to appease the puca and to stop it from causing harm.
