Why do zebras have black and white stripes?

It would be difficult from a predator to single out one zebra from a jumble of black and white bodies.

I had the opportunity to send a summer in Africa. I'll never forget, as our plane was descending to land at the Nairobi airport, looking out the window and seeing a herd of zebra running. It was an amazing site!

It's been shown now that, especially when moving, the striped pattern very much confuses the eye of predators.

Such a beautiful animal.

You can tell the difference between male and female by the stripes! The male has black and white stripes whilst the female has white and black. Honest!
