I do this too but never knew there was a name for it.

all the books we own, both read and unread, are the fullest expression of self we have at our disposal..but with each passing year and with each whimsical purchase, our libraries become more &more able to articulate who we are, whether read or unread-nick hornby

baymax

At last there is a descriptive word for me besides “obsessive hoarder”. Too many to read in one lifetime. I like to refer to my library as “Alexandria II”. Sadly, I must sell some my books for space and cash.

Bluemoon7
If I buy a book I am reading it…. And than after I donate the book.

Micky
I have thousands of books and I have read them all. At age 9 I started reading nonstop.

I made up my mind a year ago not to buy any more books. I only broke my promise one time by purchasing Robert Sapolsky’s last 2 books: ‘Behave’ and ‘Determined.’ Glad I did. Otherwise I’ve kept my promise. Our home was beginning to look like a wing of the Library of Congress or the National Archives. We are getting rather long in the tooth and we don't want our children to deal with all this that we've collected. We give books to prisons and other facilities. They are often difficult to part with.

Geo
I'm also guilty of that. Life has become so busy that it's become hard to even finish a single chapter per day

Ambi
SquareDot, me too. But I am planning to read one book every three months. It’s terrible to be attracted to certain reading material and then let them collect dust on the bookshelf.
