crème anglaise is not the same thing than custard. As anybody who tried both can tell you. For a start crème anglaise is not poured on anything because it is not liquid enough. it is a rich creamy vanilla filling inside millefeuilles, éclairs and other patisserie, not a synthetic yellow goo used to drown fruits.
