I have single stream recycling where I live and I recycle lots from my household. In Saskatchewan, Canada we also have recycling centers for beverage cans, bottles and cartons. You pay a recycling fee when you buy the beverage and then get the fee back when you return the containers to the recycling center. Many employees at these recycling centers are intellectually challenged but high-functioning individuals.

Unfortunately, there is no recycling available where I live. I try to at least take aluminum cans to where they can be recycled.

In Scotland where I live we have 4 large bins and one small one. Blue for paper and cardboard, green for plastics, cartons and cans, grey for non recyclable and brown for garden refuse. The small one is for food waste. Luckily we have special calendars telling what to put out and when otherwise it would be a nightmare remembering.

As a devoted recycler, this was easy. However, in the US, to a degree recycling is a failure. The plastics industry designated the numbers imprinted on containers and most items aren't actually recycled. Plastic takeout containers often go to landfills.
