What is exophthalmos?

I have a male friend that his eyes buldge; should I mention that he should have this checked to ascertain if it may be a medical problem?

I was diagnosed with Graves disease after I experienced sudden and extreme weight loss. Must have caught it in time as my eyes are fine. It is important to see a doctor as soon as something is amiss.

Also a sign of thyroid problems!
