Love this story. IMO, the way to judge an actor playing Scrooge is that moment when Tiny Tim's plight touches him. If you can see that in the actor's face, that change... that's the mark of a great performance. IMO Michael Caine is one of the best, even co-starring with Muppets.

My favorite Scrooge is Alistair Sim, starring in a 1951 movie called "Scrooge." Sim is brilliant, capturing not only the gruffness of early Scrooge, but also fleeting glimpses of his loneliness. IMDB says this movie is the most faithful to the book. It really is a good movie. I try to see it every year.
