I would just like to say that those of us who believe in Christ are not 'telling others what they should do'. Instead we are communicating the message of a loving God who wishes to share in his love, both with him, and with others. It is not a command, but instead, he coaxes and draws people to his love. Oh and I know a lot of people do not acknowledge the cross as a symbol of love and faith because it is considered idol worship, putting faith in a thing and not God. I personally see it as a reminder of his sacrifice.
