Anna J, didn’t know that either. It’s normal for there to be numerous types of woodpeckers in my yard at any time. Red headed, red breasted, downy, nuthatches, and flickers. I love them.

Nars_Rexy, because they eat insect and parasites in trees. I knew someone that had woodpeckers in his Pecan Tree. He kept shooting and killing them. We all tried to tell him not to do that. Eventually his Pecan Tree started dying and he asked the county co-op why. He told them about killing the woodpeckers and they told him that was why his tree was dying.

I live in FLA. and have had several different kinds of woodpeckers in my yard. The coolest are the large Pileated species that look like "Woody".
