nearly everyone is fine with MSG. There are a few people who lack an enzyme to process glutamate, glutamine but this is very rare.

Ajinamoto is a brand name, but yes, often synonymous with MSG. Also, the Japanese word "umami " means this taste. Soy sauce, seaweed.. have umami.
