I was hoping to find the explanation of the etymology of the word. I love dining out with friends and truly believe that it is a universal. I don't think we ever have "small talk" around the table. As something we all need to do (eating) I see it as a great vehicle for bringing people together. I never envisioned people being phobic about it.
