Player Say what!?, My first encounter was in Lassen Park in northern California. They seemed to fit into the unusual situation of that park with features found in Yellowstone. One of may volcanoes along the Sierra Mountains and into the Cascades in Oregon. If ever you want to learn more about volcanoes, that is a beautiful drive. It was fun to see how many we were able to find. This trip was a year after Mt St Helens blew so we came to respect the power of volcanoes.

Ginamos, With a Very loud whistle. A girl friend and I were near Central City, CO and could hear these loud weird whistles. Thought it was some guy out there messing with us and were shamefully afraid. Headed back down the mountain, to safety, then realized we were terrified by giant guinea pigs. They are very hard to see, blend in with rocks perfectly and are always near a crack to hide in.
