There’s a similar carved building at the top of the mountain called ‘the Monastery ‘ but not so tall but wider, accessible on foot or a donkey ride. The whole area is very impressive.

They did actually go to Jordan and film. The parts of them going through the canyons and the very front of the Treasury are all real and on site. Though the inside of the Treasury was NOT real and just a studio set. :) very cool to see some of this amazingly place truly used in film.
