Where is the emu found?

TwoTin16, emus are gentle if you're not making quick sudden movements. As a nurse that was stationed in Australia, emu injuries were quite common. They're known to be vicious when startled. However, I'd pick an emu over a cassowary ANY day of the week! Those things are the velociraptors of birds! YIKES!!!

Emus are raised here in the USA for food and health products. They can be very smelly for unfortunate neighbors if the owners don't keep the pens clean. I have never seen any in the wild.

Karen the emu of Useless Farm fame is probably the exception to the gentle emu rule.

These are such beautiful birds - exciting to come across them in the bush. If you treat them with respect they are gentle and curious

ugly birds but the color of their eggs are pretty a dark emerald green!!

And by the way, for all the Americans, the correct pronunciation is E-MEW not em-oo
