The Potteries in Staffordshire was a thriving industry with companies making everything from everyday tableware to high end quality collectibles. The industry employed entire families but as with the pits, the pot banks have disappeared from the social landscape and unfortunately a lot of children growing up in the area are unaware of their once proud history, although Stoke City are still known as The Potters and Port Vale feature a pot/vase on their badge.
