Europe and Asia are sometimes lumped together to form one continent called?

I never really understood how a single landmass was divided into Europe and Asia. Who decided this and what was the reasoning?

Nexus 6, you can also walk from North America to South America and from west Asia to Africa. I don’t think any one person decided this but for much of human history East Asia was largely geographically isolated from Europe by the steppe and mountains.

So what is a Eurasian ? I class my daughter as that as her mother is Thai and Im a Kiwi, so Im European but not from Europe ?!

little b, I have read that there are many Americans who don't even have passports, because there are so many holiday destinations in their own country that they never feel the need of going abroad. Hard to imagine in our own little country, not to mention our uncertain climate as well!

It's a strange, but interesting, thing that the United Kingdom is apparently included in Eurasia, seeing that the British Channel makes it a separate landmass (in fact, several separate landmasses).
