I was looking for “a Russian sailor”

The movie “The Collector” (1965) is about a lepidopterist who goes beyond butterflies and kidnaps a young woman keeping her captive through most of the film. She criticizes his penchant for killing the insects in order to collect them. He has a marvelous collection which begs the question, if left in the wild, they will eventually die and disappear but his collection does highlight their beauty. What’s your take? Kill and admire them forever or let them be unheralded in the wild?
