I thought the idea that he recanted his theory was a myth by religious people.
Whether he or didn't is not important. Theory stands on its own legs.
He did suffer the loss of many of his children.

Curmudgeon, He recanted his theory because he was senile and dying and the holy roller's got into his poor mind and convinced him he wouldn't go to heaven if he didn't and ,by all accounts he was very spiritual. It's no longer a theory folks, it's a scientific fact proven by observation and genetics.
