So many of you may be too young to remember, The Sounds of Music? The song, “Edelweiss” was in the movie which took place in the Alps. Funny how our memories catalogue these things, huh?

Player #25874027, Actually, I have a small gold and enamel pin the my father-in-law took off of a dead German soldier in WWII. It has two small edelweiss on it and I thought sadly was probably given to him by his love before he went into battle, which would give credibility to the comment in the narrative that it would be given to someone as a pledge of dedication to that person…so sad.

Yessum, Actually, Hitler wasn't German, he was Austrian. And is the Austrian Alps where it's best known.

Vel,
The edelweiss is Austria’s national flower. Perhaps the reason why Germany wasn’t mentioned is because it was Hitler’s favorite flower?

I have always thought Edelweiss was the flower known to be special in Germany...
