Been there for a show in the new venue (and also visited the old Ryman Auditorium).
Most singers were off-key, audience didn't care and had a great time.

During the 80s I was on the stage of the Opry, it was a thrilling experience bc I got to meet Bill Munroe backstage after the show, awesome fun, Nashville is a fun destination!!

I have quite a few Elvis 45 rpm records on SUN lable before he went to RCA. I have those too with the original sleeves and the Song A/B side Juke Box titles. Getting ready to take them to 'Vintage Vinyl' and cash-in now that turn tables are back in style.

That is why WLAC gave Him air time. Other stations got too many complaints about him. ( the bigots thought he was black ) Listeners were kind of flabbergasted down the line .!.

Erica, Sam Phillips, who was a DJ at rival WLAC Nashville, and later founded Sun Records, is credited with discovering Elvis. Back in the 50s, we could get both stations in Texas late at night. WLAC was more R&B and played many pioneering Black artists that other southern stations wouldn't air.

Erica, you better believe it!!
