Who is the artist of the painting "Virgin of the Rocks"?

Da Vinci's use of sfumato (which means "to smoke"), in this painting is a technique of softening outlines and creating subtle transitions between light and shadow. This technique, visible around the Virgin's temples and nose, gives the figures a three-dimensional quality, creating a soft, hazy effect around the edges of the figures, making them appear to emerge from the darkness.

Only one of the four options was known for painting religious subjects- probably following the money at the time

It's a lovely painting! I absolutely love da Vinci's paintings! I especially love the Mona Lisa as well!
