Who were the eponymous female leads of the film “Thelma & Louise”?

Now if I can only figure out what the word "eponymous" means. Even after looking it up in the dictionary, I still don't understand!

Eponymous: They gave their names to the Title of the film: Thelma and Louise. I enjoyed this movie which I must have seen in the 90’s. Think it’s time to watch it again.

I've never seen the movie but I should be able to recognize both of these actresses at 1st sight but I can't tell who either one of the women are in the picture above
