Vanessa, I lost my sense of smell following two surgeries, the first was for an aneurysm clip when my brain was moved slightly and all the olfactory nerves were snapped. The second was transphenoidal surgery(through the nasal cavity) when an incision was made directly through the olfactory sensor and turned it into scar tissue
