Which of the following birds is pictured?

As an avid birdwatcher I am impressed with the uniqueness of this birds coloration and head dress!

I first came across a Hoopoe bird when on honeymoon in Lanzarote. We called it the alarm clock bird (as we didn't know what it was) as it's call sounds just like an electronic alarm clock, going pipipipi pipipipi.

I wonder if it's in the same family as the woodpecker. because it looks very similar as well as it's vertical feeding habits on trees etc.
