My grandson has high functioning Autism so he is able to learn pretty well. He reads like the wind. I couldn't believe how well he did. This when he was 5. He has a lot of focus.

As with all Autistic spectrum disorders kids and adults that have it have a form of genius that has to be nurtured they may lack some social abilities but are people who are extraordinary and shouldn’t be shunned, labelled or pushed into corners as they were in the past anyone with autism is extremely brave as are their families and friends, I have the utmost respect for them

J, both my children and two of my grandchildren are autistic and one of them had an autistic partner they hold down jobs are very talented in particular areas and are beautiful people no different to anyone else each with own qualities. More and more people diagnosed as neurodivergent now through increased knowledge of the spectrum. All went to or currently attend mainstream school and do well

Rey, not sure what you're referring to as 'the disease' but would like to clarify that neither autism nor savant syndrome are a disease as there is no 'cure' or 'treatment' & those with either condition are born with it.

I don't know if I have this kind of condition, but I can clearly recall how I manage to answer those types of questions without knowing anything. To ask this somehow I think I only have some sort of autism or just something.

I don’t think “mental disabilities” is an appropriate term. Perhaps, in some cases. However, I wouldn’t consider many people with this syndrome or autistic people as having a disability at all. Just “different” in certain areas, and in some other areas they excel.

I've read recently that Autism could be caused by a lack of natural "pruning" of brain cells which usually occurs at specific childhood ages, so perhaps the children retain more brain cells for memory, etc?
