I was living in Germany when this happened. The change was made so that the Swedes would have all Winter to get used to the change. (Because of the weather, there is little traffic in Winter.) The following Spring they began to relax and accidents and incidents were much more common. On my trips to the UK, I have to concentrate while driving. No problems, but it can be exhausting.

DONNA, They’d probably shoot the drivers who were either in the lane they moving into or just generally in their line of sight .

SueA, I was a kid in 62 when the song Telstar was released to commemorate the 1st telecommunications satellite. We'd go out at night and could see the satellite move across the sky. The song gave everyone goosebumps. Boy, talk about reviving memories!

Cizinka, I think you are thinking of Telstar by the Tornadoes in 1962. When you mentioned it I remembered the tune from then and I’m 74. The brain is amazing. I agree it was a very interesting and informative question.

BlueEyedAlien, I doubt I would ever attempt to drive on another country. My cousin went to school in England in the late 60s and was killed in a head on collision with a truck while trying to adapt different driving sides.

I really dislike this driving way. The people of USA would never cooperate in the procedure.

I had heard about this briefly, but these details are really informative. Especially interesting is that a song was written for the occasion and performed by the Telstars. I seem to remember a late 50s instrumental hit by them.
