At one time (1518), the Mona Lisa reportedly hung in the bathroom of King Francois I of France at Chateau de Fontainbleu. It was nothing like modern bathrooms, but very opulent Royal Baths, which were several beautifully outfitted rooms. It's also believed that the original painting was larger than what it is now.
