I’m currently rereading Bill Bryson’s book, ‘The Mother Tongue ~ English and how it got that way.’ It’s great fun and full of a lot of information about, not only English, but the evolution of the many languages of the world. Bryson, as always, adds humor to his writing. I would suggest this book to anyone interested in language and how it grows and evolves. English, in particular, has incorporated many of its words from other languages.
