It's not clear who invented the simple microscope, but the first compound (2 lenses) microscope was invented by Zacharias Janssen, a Dutch spectacle maker, in about 1600. However, Leeuwenhoek was the first to make intelligent use of it.

Humans are amazing. No education background but discovered bacteria during that time of the 1600’s which seemed impossible but what a very intelligent gentleman to be able to see bacteria and know it’s some type of germs. Humans are extraordinary indeed.

He also invented the microscope 🔬

Great info on an amazing scientist previously unknown to me. BUT would question that he was the First to See this bacteriam, had been around since Time ..First to identify and record. Did he have any idea as to the importance...what had he been researching into ?
