In which Spanish city is the sculpture of the stray dog in the picture located?
Correct answer: Barcelona

jeanie
How sad, but poignant.

Kane
Rey, I agree with what you wrote but, alas, I fear one who neglects and abuses animals will remain unmoved.

tex
It's so sad that so many "pet lovers" abandon their pets to the streets when they move on to another place. I've seen lots of abandoned pets in the UAE where most residents are not citizens. When the time comes for them to leave for their own countries, they just abandon their pets.

Goodboy
beautiful words and great statue to depict human consequences of doing or not doing.

Lionessa
Rey, People who abuse dogs don't have hearts.

Cathy
Lionessa, I agree! Animal abuse should have stricter penalties and be enforced more

Player Say what!?
Many years ago, I saw a report on animal abuses committed in Spain for entertainment during a celebration of different things. Some acts resulted in horrible death. I remember because of the enormous backlash and outrage, the government said they would put a stop to it. Yeah, I bet. Do NOT go to Spain!

Chris, You are sadly correct that it happens worldwide, but the difference is that Spanish cities sanction competitions such as how long can they dangle a goat from a 3rd story window before it breaks free. How many men can pile on to a donkey before its back breaks. Attach bottle rockets to the horns of tied up bulls and laugh hysterically at the bulls reaction of total fear. I saw these criminal acts of pure barbaric cruelty many years ago on a news report and vowed at that time to not give one cent of my money. After the report, some mayors said they would put a stop to it as they got a whole lot of ensuing vacation cancelations.

Player Say what!?, Spain is horrific, I will never visit this cruel country.

Talaith
I hope the sculptor cared for living dogs too. And that this reminds people to feed strays. Being ignored, cold and hungry is terrible. The sculpture is amazing.

Talaith
I hope the sculptor cared

I totally agree with neutering pets! But when you have wild animals that kill the pets you have just spent a couple of 100pounds desexing. the point becomes a bit blurry! I have lost to the wild dogs here, about 20 cats. 2 puppies. Nearly 50 poultry.

Player Say what!?, unfortunately the US Navy goes to Spain when our ships go to the Mediterranean for a 9 month med cruise and stop off before heading home. When I was in the Navy, we stopped in Malaga, to start the cruise, later on we went to Barcelona. That was stinky. Where we were tied up, the sewer pipe from the hospital would sometimes throw out human waste such as body parts, legs and feet and arms. Then the seagulls would come down and start eating the flesh.

We need to spay/nueter all pets to reduce the number of animals and STOP the puppy and kitten mills. The adoption requirements are so lax that anyone can adopt whether they love animals or not. WE HAVE TO END THIS!!! I'm an American animal rights activist.

Papabear1959
Beautiful poem and a heartbreaking sculpture.😢😢

antzuzu
This and SPCA and other animal cruelly ads_ are painful to see. The famous Bob Barker used to say, *Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets*

Lady butterfly
Spain also makes a spectacle of taunting bulls and then killing them for entertainment!

ASJ
Sad and impressive 😞

People who abuse animals will also abuse people. They have probably been abused themselves. We need You Jesus.

JC
that's not love

Vicki
All we need is stricter,ENFORCED laws in regard to being a loyal and faithful pet parent. People are punished for what they do to our most loyal and loving companions and stand without waver.

Carla
Player Say what!?, I hope this has stopped!?!

meka
Lord my heart aches at the sad truth this poignant statue highlights.

Chris
Player Say what!?, I love Spain. I loved visiting Spain. People mistreat animals…AND other people in every country of the world. I don’t believe that abuse is particular to Spain.

LillySparrow
jeanie, yes because God intends for us to take care of animals with respect and not abuse them but that’s one of many many reasons He sent Jesus to die for our sins … just sayin

Terri
Kane , yep

Doctor
Very eloquent and real.
