Which country used to be called the Khmer Empire?

I lived and worked there at the end if the Khmer Rouge regime 1993-1996 and it was an amazing experience, yes the Khmer Rouge did unspeakeble damage and crimes of humanity but the country iand its resilient people continues to make progress, every time I go back I am happy to see some improvements. If you go try to go via Phnom Penh and help support the people with tourist money 🙏🏻
