Which pedal do you have to press when changing gear?
Correct answer: Clutch

Lorraine ,
as automatic transmission technology has increased there is little advantage driving a manual.
Automatic transmission used to be more expensive to buy, maintain, and worse fuel economy. None of these are valid in modern cars, even many trucks.
Automatic transmission is now preferable for many reasons and only car enthusiasts prefer manuals.

If I try to shift with my left hand, I'll get my hands tangled. In every vehicle I've driven the shift lever is right of the driver.

Learned to drive in a 1958 Ford F150 manual and that was 45 yrs ago! Still prefer stick shift. I still have a 1998 Ford F150.

Lorraine , It is difficult if you never learned it early in your learning to drive career. But has been proven automatic is not a disadvantage to stickshift. ! ! !

Lorraine , I’m American and I prefer a “stick shift.” I even bought a SUV that was a manual transmission! I enjoy active driving. It keeps me alert and I like the feel of that stick shift in my hand. I wonder why …

I’m from SF. The city of hills. Anyone who can drive stick there (like my dad) is a pro.

Lorraine , True. Most manufacturers don't even sell them here in the U.S. anymore. I had few choices when I got mine in 2017. I'm very unusual for having owned only manual transmission cars (this is my third since 1982). I love driving them. Also unusual as I'm female. It's mostly males who drive manuals here, and sports care.
