When was the world population half of today's roughly 7.9 billion people?

Strange how, in all this kerfuffle about climate change and racing to carbon net zero, no one has mentioned the elephant in the room- over population and an economic system which requires population growth to function. Unfortunately it looks like the world is going to solve the problem in the way it has twice before, world war. If it does happen hopefully the survivors will be smart enough to institute an economy that only requires a stable population.

Nature controls the population of any species whose numbers grow too large for their environment. In our case, I'm thinking water shortages (already happening) and returning famines from climate change. These will bring wars between the Haves and the Have-nots. Also standing in the wings are real diseases like small pox or some new mutation of flu. The two together killed ONE BILLION people in the 20th century.

There are certain religions-people that promote high birth rates either on purpose or lack of understanding, specially when they don't have the means to support so many kids yet they expect the government to help support them! We know where the governments get their money! That doesn't fare well with the tax payers!! The point is that if the birth rate is not controlled we are going to see "Soilent Green" become a reality!

Still far too many people for this planet to sustain, if everyone had just one child or none, the population could settle down and give animals and plants a better chance of survival.

We have now reached a plateau in the size of world population For example in countries like China the population is actually decreasing .On the other hand India's population is now surpassed Chinese.Galf of India's population is under30 years old
