I have known Americans who did not know the answer to that and other simple history questions. I have also known many immigrants who do. Most people are eager to learn new things, so don't put others down for not knowing, especially those from other countries. As far as the question writers writing about U.S. stuff, it might be what they are interested in. I don't know, but I do know that even living smack in the middle of the U.S.A, I am still learning stuff about my country. So ease it back a bit, ok?

I would love to learn about other countries. Maybe game developers from other countries can come up with trivia games and we would have a chance to play if they make it available. I have had questions that dealt with other countries but know it is predominantly U.S. trivia. I am enjoying this game anyway!!!

Wow! Unreal. You'd think that Abraham Lincoln is a safe topic but even he raises the hackles of some nowadays. How about Mother Teresa? Okay, misanthropes you're on! Let 'er rip!

I think history in this country get so neglected these days as opposed to other countries. so many live for the here and now without a clue how they or the things they enjoy got here. if we don't learn from history we are prone to make the same mistakes that were made in the past!

Gary, if only the school system could teach history differently, making it interesting and in a way that students can relate to. And getting into personal details that would make the historical figures, like Lincoln, come alive where the students can see them as real people. But teachers' hands are tied bc they have to just shovel the info on the students as fast as possible so they can meet the requirements for the standardized testing. Not fair to all of the great teachers out there and not fair to the students- young or old- who want to learn. Just wish it could be different.

nimblemoon, that's just a truly ignorant statement to be honest. First there are a lot of questions completely unrelated to the US. Second players have the option to submit questions they would like to see in the game. Third you also have the option to select the country or region you want. Fourth, it's their app/game and they can do it however they want. Those who don't enjoy it don't have to play it. Stop criticizing everything and everyone. People who choose to look at the world in such a critical way have bigger problems than the questions in a trivia game that don't suit them personally.

Sandyberry, I am 80 and the way we were taught back then was different and more involved I think. I know I know a lot more than my children and grandchildren. Maybe we ought to take a few steps back. Just thinking.

I don't have the wherewithal to say which writers are from where, and I also agree that some of the current comments are, at times, stilted, but other times, even just mean. As far as pointing out who may (or may not) know about what, again, still generously under qualified. All points aside, when you submit a question for review (and hopefully addition!), make sure that the available answer choices match the question, in ANY context; e.g., this mistake, while minor in comparison to others, is a perfect example. In this case, if the CORRECT answer to this particular question is “Illinois”, then the question—in its entirety—should be: “Which US state became known as ‘The Land of Lincoln’ in the mid-1950s?”, or, “...in 1955”, or even, “...in the mid-20th century?”. Knowledge may change from hemisphere to hemisphere, but grammatical structure rules DO NOT. Take a note.

I'm from Illinois. Freebee for me. Great state to visit besides East St. Louis and 60% of Chicago that have high crime rates. Lots of trees parks rivers and lakes. If you like fishing its wonderful.

IntenseCentaur29306, We all need to remember that this game is being played globally, not just in the USA. Since the majority of the questions relate mostly to us, it amazes me that anyone, other than an American, would even want to play!
