In Islam, Gabriel is the chief of all the angels and one of the only three high-ranking angels mentioned by name in the Qur'an (besides Michael and Raphael). And although not believed to have gender in the biological sense, they (including the generic word 'angel') are always referred to as male. The concept of female angels, I'm sure, is alien to the Abrahamic beliefs even as understood in the Western world.
