Who invented the screens for doors and windows?

Had a wee chuckle at the idea of Gilbert and Sullivan inventing screen doors. Would the door sing at you every time you opened it

It’s akin to a Debit card, not a credit card as you can only afford what’s actually on the card . ! ! !
