fergiethefrog, cautious, when using such a broad brush to describe those of us from the United States of America. I was born and raised here. Yet I speak, not only English, but also Mandarin Chinese, Brazilian, Portuguese, German, and French. In Florida, where I live, it's mandatory to take language courses. it is true. Some people do not learn well. But most of us do have some knowledge beyond English.

This is so very interesting. But sad that Americans mostly refuse to learn languages ither than english then want to insist that english is an American language when in fact it came from England with the pilgrims and other immigrants.
