What is the national plant of Scotland?

I played for a soccer team named Thistle. I was asked to play for them by a Scottish friend I grew up playing with.

RushMama2112, my Scots family told the legend of the thistle famously saving William Wallace as he lay in an exhausted sleep in the open field. A barefooted assassin's attempt to sneak up on Wallace awakened Wallace in time to save himself when assailant stepped on a thistle and cried out loudly in acute pain.

So Brian, I noticed you use the word "true Scotch thistle. " I thought the word applies to the hard liquor, but not to things or people of Scotland. 🤗
