Where did kreppel have its origin?

This is called Berliner in most of Germany, Kreppel is a local name only used in small parts of the country.

Look delicious, I think the people of Germany deserve a culinary medal for all the sweet things they’ve produced… Stolen, Lebukuchen,etc unfortunately along with Scottish Tablet, Turkish Delight, Gulub Jamin it may have been a major factor in me getting Type 2 Diabetes! Lol

Me, I remember President Kennedy visiting West Berlin during the Cold War and making a serious speech..At the end he wanted to show solidarity with the people and knew that "Ich bin" meant "i am". However he must have wondered why people laughed when he announced "Ich bin ein Berliner".
