In much of Australia, the previous advice has been that tick season starts in September, but since 2021 the advice is that ticks can potentially be active all year round.

ang, My uncle always used a hot match head. Worked every time. The heat is put on the tick's head and the sucker crawls out. Then, tweezers can grab it. Oh, yuck!!! To this day, I won't go walking near high grass in and low-hanging trees and shrubs
