I've been reading a book on fairy tales from around the world and many places have the same basic theme. 3 children with 1 as the scapegoat. Some magical creature (fairy, ghost, goblin, dwarf) comes along and makes the scapegoat find his/her love and they live happily ever after. Some een incorporate a lesson to be learned. (kindness, patience, perserverance)
