The means of causing us to hear described above are very complicated and absolutely amazing! And it seems amazing that quality of hearing varies - since our youth, I have always been able to hear very faint sounds that my husband never could. No idea why.

It would be nice if there were a diagram to show how this process works. I've had an ear issue for many months, specialists day it's in the inner ear. The problem with inner ear problems is that these tiny little ear parts are in side the head. With the brain and such. 😔

Player #85315195, hi, ok diagrams. lots on the internet. Did the people you talked to say Malus, incus, tympanic membrane, the hairs? As you get older or subject yourself to loud noises! the hairs in your inner ear canals break. Don't get an op. Even now they can only do it by direct stimulation of auditory nerve.

Player #85315195, Sorry about your inner ear problem. I'm sure the Specialists will know how to deal with it, so that you're soon back to hearing properly once again.

Olly, Lucky you, being able to hear better than your husband. I had to graduate to wearing hearing aids at the age of 64. I suspect my hearing loss and chronic tinnitus are the result of falling asleep in front of stereo speakers when drunk/stoned when I was a lot younger.
