Maestra, similar animals have given names depending on the area community where they live. Moose vs Eland (Orignal in french ), or Wapiti vs Caribou, or Orca vs killer whale. Variation of same species.

Victoria, Where we are at, they have come into the towns, backyards & have tried to attack humans. Our policy here is if they can be caught in town & has not tried to attack humans, they are tagged, relocated & released. However, if they have tried to attack humans or have been known to repeatedly come into the area, they are shot & killed. I hate that part, but understand it also. We get them rather frequently in our exact locale. Even had one approach & interrupt our hot tub time!

Beautiful cat, many have been killed on the eastern side of USA by hunters who just like to kill,,I have never heard of one of these big cats attacking a person here on the east Carolinas where I live with them in my backyard of woods and hills,,
