Schizophrenia is a baffling, heartbreaking disorder that hasn't had new treatments in decades. The reason so many schizophrenic people won't adhere to a prescription regimen is that the side effects of anti-psychotic medications are terrible: weight gain, sedation, loss of sense of self, and involuntary mouth and muscle movements called "Tardive Dyskinesia." I read just today of a new type of anti-psychotic drug with NONE of these side effects. The worst effect of the new drug seems to be urinary retention in vulnerable individuals. It's a rare bit of good news in the battle against Schizophrenia.

Is this anything like social anxiety disorder?

I think I have suffered with this disorder most of my life, but did no know it was a recognised 'thing'.
