I think both Howard Hughes and John Nash, the subject of the movie " A Beautiful Mind", suffered from this. Both of them connected notes and objects with strings to remind them of "connections" they imagined between them . The result was a maze of strings. Nash also connected an abandoned mailbox with nonexistent secret government agents .

All the world's religious symbols have patterns that may or may not be interconnected. This theory is very stretched and here described through a series of illnesses associated with patterns and superstitions. One thing is the heritage symbol and the other are underlined stories that are associated with it, which may create random subjective associations. Hardly any religion and heritage these days leave the benefit of doubt and superstitions behind.
