So tomatoes are fruit. Yet they are never paired with other fruits, say, in a salad: tomato and apple salad with blueberries? Tomatoes and grapefruit with lemon sauce? Tomatoes, kiwi and cherries? Rather revolting, eh?

You mentioned Tomato with APPLE (Another Fruit) looking at the true definition of a FRUIT v Vegetable, Tomato is NOT the only Fruit - to be marketed / sold as a VEGETABLE ! Others include Okra, Cucumber, Courgette, Aubergine, Capsicum ! Legumes = Beans, Peas etc Cucumber
