Who discovered the first exoplanets?

Waldorf, When a planet, the size of Jupiter, an ice giant, transverses it's star the brightness drops. If a star's brightness dims regularly, at the same period as the orbit of the planet, we know a planet is responsible.

I would like to know how they discovered the planets.
