Who invented the three-point seat belt?

In the UK it became compulsory to wear seat belts in the front of a car in 1983. Wearing rear seat belts didn't become compulsory until 1991.

Sassy, I think that the wearing of seat belts became mandatory in the U.K. in the 1970s . I could be wrong.

I remember in the 70s when hardly no one wore their seatbelts. It wasn’t enforced till the 80s. The same with car seats.
