Wisenheimer , it doesn’t describe it very well. It grows on wood, so if you’ve ever seen a bit of a “shelf” growing on an old tree stump, or out of the side of a tree, quite often in the fork of a living tree, that is this mushroom. It is usually the first mushrooms gathered by newbies, as there are no versions which are poisonous. Big ones can be intimidating, though!
